From Tokyo
Artspace, Sydney
Inkjet on Satin, each image 3 x 2 metres
In the twilight and many-voiced silence of Tokyo stand our three glacial white-gloved police guards protecting the dying Emperor Hirohito. At the dead empty centre – the sacred void – of Edo castle, the city in its electronic haiku existence spins round this site like a constellation of fiery stars in the firmament. These three huge polyester satin images speak of a gentle vivid and frozen choreography of suggestion, simplicity and fragility.
